OUR PARTNER IN BRIGHTON

Led by Hayley Franco, the SFW Hub in Brighton was hosted by the Brighton-based charity Brighton Peace and Environment Centre in collaboration with Sew Fabulous CiC and several other passionate local individuals who are working hard to ensure fashion does not come at a cost to people and planet.

All activites took place at the iconic Brighton Dome.

  • AUTUMN / WINTER CLOTHES SWAP WITH SEW FABULOUS

    Exchange your pre-loved autumn and winter clothes, and say ‘no thanks’ to fast fashion at this fun and free clothes swap. Bring up to 5 pre-loved garments to exchange for tokens. Each garment will be graded and you’ll get tokens to spend at the swap.

  • SUSTAINABLE MARKETPLACE

    Discover an eco-chic wonderland of conscious fashion and sustainable treasures at our vibrant Sustainable Fashion Week marketplace.

  • REPAIR CAFE WITH SEW FABULOUS

    Bring along your simple mending jobs and learn how to sew on a button, take up a hem and undertake DIY simple mends. Gain help and learn how to fix your clothes with the Sew Fabulous mending team. Suitable teens, adults, beginners and those with some experience. Hand and machine sewing offered.

    Screenings took place at The Brighton Dome, upper mezzanine across the weekend.

    PANEL: REMAKE - FAST FASHION IS A FEMINIST ISSUE

    A panel focussed on fashion as a feminist issue and what the community can do to advocate for garment workers rights from afar.

    How to solve the fast fashion problem in your community.

    Breaking down what circular fashion means and how the future for fashion could look.

  • WORKSHOPS

    VISIBLE MENDING & CREATIVE DARNING WITH SEW FABULOUS

    Learn simple darning techniques to mend holes in your knitwear. Bring something to work on or work on a sample.

    CREATIVE MACHINE EMBROIDERY CUSTOMISATION WITH SEW FABULOUS

    Bring along an item of clothing and use a sewing machine to draw with stitch, cover up a stain or hole and customise a pre-loved garment.

    DENIM REPAIR WITH DENIM RECON LONDON

    Bring your denim and learn how to alter, resize and customise your jeans or jackets

  • WORKSHOPS

    VISIBLE MENDING & CREATIVE PATCHING WITH SEW FABULOUS

    Learn simple patching techniques to patch your clothes. Bring something to work on or work on a sample

    UPCYCLING WITH DANI DAWKS

    Creative no sew up-cycling workshop. Bring a garment or used tote bag to work on and have fun with scrap fabrics, pens and embellishments

    TOAST REPAIR WORKSHOP

    Work with sample fabrics and learn sashiko inspired stitching to mend and embellish.

    BRIGHTON MET FASHION STUDENTS

    Featuring new sustainable talent from Fashion Students at Greater Brighton Metropolitan College. This experimental runway show will feature cutting edge innovation in sustainable fashion through avant garde design.

    ARTWEAR COMMUNITY

    The artwear project runs talks, events, panels and runways across Brighton. In this collaborative runway we’re celebrating the process and technicality in reworked, sustainable design. Showcasing designers from across the Brighton community, we’re excited to exhibit the revolutionary possibility of the runway.
