We are collaborating!

Collaborations is at the heart of what we do, we want to work with as many organisations and people as possible to help shift the story of fashion. It’s something that is relative to everyone, which is why we are so passionate about working with others. We are thrilled to be able to announce that we have been in discussions with two local Bristol organisations about collaborating on some really exciting projects this year.

I can’t delve into too much detail, but as you can probably tell from some of our Instagram stories we’ve connected with Bristol Museums, and the City of Bristol College.

We are working with the M Shed (Bristol Museums) to produce a community-led, sustainably produced garment for their upcoming climate change exhibition that will run from June-October. The garment will highlight cultural heritage, with Bristol culture naturally feeding into this with local collaborators being involved. This is an amazing opportunity to showcase the intergenerational skills sharing that is involved with creating garments – especially on a local, community-based level too. It’s an amazing opportunity to celebrate how fashion has evolved (or stayed the same?!) and explore the journey of sustainable fashion.

Our second project, with the City of Bristol College involves…. a catwalk! We are so thrilled to say that this year we will be including a catwalk on one of the SFW hub days in September. Last year so many people reached out to us asking to be involved in our catwalk show, but it was not something we were doing back then as it didn’t feel right. We have grown as an organisation and this year, and we know how to approach it in a way that aligns best with our core values. Students from the college will be creating ‘something from nothing’ for the catwalk. Its super exciting to be working with the students to showcase their creativity and talent. It feels like the perfect way to celebrate the many ways we can #reconnect with fashion, through #repurposing, #reusing and #regenerating

That’s as much information as we can share for now, but I hope you are feeling as excited as we are about SFW 2022. We’ll reveal more details in due course!

All the best,

SFW Team x
